4. Medicinal Use
The active ingredients in marijuana have been shown useful in treating many diseases from cancer, and seizures to depression, and anxiety. Marijuana is one of the oldest know pharmaceutical substances and has been used all over the world from the beginning of recorded history right up to contemporary times. (Here is a list of 10 legally prescribed drugs derived from the marijuana plant). Recently, the US Surgeon General even admitted that Marijuana has Medical uses. Yet the only reason Marijuana is not legal in the United States is because it is considered aschedule 1 Narcotic, and schedule 1 Narcotics have no medical value. If a substance that is schedule 1 is determined to have medical value it should be moved to a different schedule where it would be legal in all 50 states for medicinal uses.
